September 3 – 16, 2025

____________________

Step into a journey like no other, where song and sound weave with ancestral stories, becoming living spells of healing, connection, and transformation. Through voice and vibration, we awaken a deep bond with the land, our lineage, and the unseen forces that have shaped human existence for millennia.

Sacred Sounds Journey

Each stop holds ancient energy, waiting to be stirred, remembered and reactivated.

AVEBURY

An ancient landscape of towering stone circles, mystical ley lines, and sacred sites where the earth hums with untold wisdom, inviting us to awaken our voices and step into the songs of the ancients.

CUMBRIA

A land of rugged beauty, mystical lakes, and ancient stone circles, where the echoes of the past meet the wild spirit of the land, calling us to sing, awaken, and reconnect with the deep magic of the Earth.

Stirling Castle-Scotland

HEART OF SCOTLAND

A land of ancient castles, sacred wells, and mystical highlands, where the veil between worlds is thin, inviting us to sing into the echoes of history and awaken the soul’s deepest resonance.

IONA & STAFFA

Where wild, untamed beauty meets the whispers of ancient chants, sacred shores, and Celtic mysticism, inviting us to sing with the land, the sea, and the spirit of the ancestors.

On this Sacred Journey we will reclaim the wisdom of our ancestors, fusing breath and sound with the untamed forces of the land

Traveling through the ancient landscapes of England and Scotland, we will sing in resonance with ley lines and sacred power sites, awakening frequencies that restore harmony to the human body—clearing energetic blockages, revitalising the nervous system, and activating spiritual centres.

These powerful sites act like the earth’s energy meridians—much like arteries and veins carrying lifeblood—connecting us to a vast geomantic matrix. As we sing, we will also be clearing deep ancestral imprints held in the land and within ourselves, opening our own psychic and intuitive centres. By deepening our connection with the earth’s energy, we open to higher frequencies and receive insight, healing, and guidance from unseen realms.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to sing directly into the spine of these ancient isles, transforming both the land and ourselves in the process.

What are Ley Lines?

LEY LINES are energetic pathways that weave across the earth, forming a vast matrix that connects sacred sites, natural formations, and ancient monuments. These lines pulse with the earth’s subtle energy, acting as conduits for healing and transformation. Positive-transmitting electrical ley lines radiate energy outward, amplifying intention and activation, while negative-receiving magnetic ley lines draw energy inward, absorbing and realigning frequencies. Together, they create a powerful geomantic grid that has been honoured for centuries as a living, breathing system of earth energy.

What are Power Sites?

POWER SITES, such as ancient stone circles, sacred wells, and temple ruins, are focal points where the energy of the earth is most concentrated. These locations act as portals between worlds, where the interplay of electrical and magnetic forces creates a potent field for healing, deep transformation, and spiritual awakening. Through geomancing—the art of working with the land’s energy—we can tune into these frequencies and align ourselves with the natural rhythms of the earth.

Through song, sound and sacred water
we awaken the land — and the land awakens us.

This will be a profound homecoming steeped in mystery, magic, and raw power, where we will emerge transformed after our time together.

SACRED SOUNDS JOURNEY

Journey Itinerary
Part 1 (10 Days)

Avebury – Cumbria – Scotlands Heart

DAY 1:  Collection at Reading Station, where we’ll whisk you away to the beautiful Avebury Farmhouse — the only venue that can host a group of our size within walking distance of the ancient monuments we’ll be exploring.  We’ll start our journey gently as we meet each other, land, and take in Silbury Hill and West Kennet Long Barrow for our first wild singing together, attuning our voices to the earth.

We’ll be sleeping our first few nights in the shadow of Silbury Hill, immersed in its powerful energy — and can take a gentle evening stroll to connect with this ancient site. This is where the magic begins — gathering as a circle, sharing stories, and stepping into the power of this sacred adventure.

DAY 2:  Our adventure begins in the Avebury Complex, home to the largest stone circle not just in the UK but in the WORLD, where we’ll sing and sound our way into alignment with each other and the lands gigantic mystery. As the ancients did, we will traverse the West Kennett Avenue 1.5mile approach, of what would have been 100 pairs of megaliths entering the main circle, allowing the energy of this powerful site to guide us deeper into the journey. Later, we’ll travel to Uffington White Horse and Dragon Hill, where the East/West Michael and Mary ley lines intersect with the North/South Belinus lines — steeped in myth and legend as the place where St George is said to have slain the dragon. Is it a horse or a dragon? You decide as we explore this magical place and walk in the footsteps of our ancestors and add our voices to the echoes of their doings.

DAY 3:  We depart for Avalon, of Arthurian legend fame, where we’ll ascend the iconic Glastonbury Tor, one of the most powerful energy centres in the UK, offering breathtaking views and a chance to connect with the myth and magic of this land.

We’ll also visit the sacred White and Red Springs, famed for their healing waters — one rich in calcium, the other in iron — and take time to bathe in their atmosphere, filling our bottles to carry these potent waters filled with us as blessings for the sites ahead.  Then on to Glastonbury’s famous high street, a treasure trove of mystical shops and magical offerings — a perfect place for unique finds and keepsakes of our journey.

DAY 4:  A place of raw elemental power, Lud’s Church Chasm is where the earth reveals itself in its purest form—ancient rock rising through the forest floor, parting the ancestral field like the Red Sea. Steeped in myth and legend, this deep sandstone cleft has long been considered a portal between worlds, a place where history, nature, and spirit intertwineThis Green Chapel, linked to Arthurian tales, has been a site of deep rites and initiations for centuries. The towering moss-covered walls hold whispers of the past, while the stillness invites those who enter to listen, align, and awaken. Here, the denizens of the stone stand as silent guardians, guiding those ready to step into direct connection with the living earth and you may get a chance to meet what can only be called ‘The Golems’…around, and within.

DAY 5:  Castleton is a truly medieval village, founded around the 10th century by William the Conqueror’s son and home to the largest cave entrance in the UK, ‘The Devil’s Arse’.  We will explore this enchanting village nestled in the stunning Hope Valley and venture into the legendary Cave, which doubles as an actual music venue, because of the extraordinary acoustics — a perfect space to raise our voices and let song ripple through ancient stone.

We’ll also take an underground boat journey in Speedwell Cavern, one of many caves in the area for a unique afternoon in ancient England, and the only one with an underground lake!

DAY 6:  Today we journey to the legendary Castle Rock at Alderley Edge, a place of ancient myths, hidden wisdom, and Bronze Age secrets. Walking its storied paths and singing in one of its sacred caves, we’ll connect with the unseen and resonate with the earth’s deep energy, where ancient chambers will amplify our sound and intention.

Moving on, we’ll share lunch in the nearby village—famous for attracting Manchester’s elite—before travelling on to Long Meg and Her Daughters Stone Circle, the third largest stone circle in the land, and a most potent ancient site.

DAY 7:  St Bees Head Nature Reserve and St Bees Priory – one of the few spots where one can see (if the weather is right!) all the kingdoms of the UK – Scotland, England, Wales and Ireland as well as the mysteriously self governing Isle of Man. This area is a major power site, recognised as the central point of the mythical Arthurian stories of the “Three Crowns of Britain”, believed to reference the ancient islands of Glastonbury, Lindesfarne and Iona. St Bees Head is the closest coastline to the Isle of Man, the geographic navel of the British Isles. We will return via the picturesque Lake District, stopping at the Aira waterfall and the stunning Ullswater lake, the second largest lake in England.

DAY 8:  Today we head north to Scotland! Making a stop in the Borders region at Kagyu Samye Ling, the first Tibetan Buddhist centre established outside of Tibet, and, to this day still the largest.

Next we visit the old town of Stirling, a historical place of power filled with myth and legend, which houses an impressive medieval castle on a craggy volcanic rock, stopping for lunch and a spot of Scottish shopping in the afternoon.

Finally we move on to the geographical heart of Scotland, taking in the breath-taking scenery whilst skirting the stunning Loch Tay as we head to the foothills of Schiehallion ‘the Fairy hill of the Caledonians”, for our next stop.

DAY 9: The Fortingall Yew, over 5,000 years old, is the oldest tree in Europe and a revered ancestral presence. We will pay homage as we pass through, but our true destination is The Black Wood, home to Scotland’s grandmother trees—a rare remnant of the Primordial Forest, where those attuned can glimpse the earth’s deep magic. This sacred place holds the power of healing and transformation, with many, including our guide, experiencing profound heart shifts and even near-death visions here. In this ancient woodland, we will listen deeply, sing with the rustling leaves and birdsong, and offer our voices in reverence to the Green Man and the Lady of the Forest.

We will return along the stunning Loch Rannoch and Loch Tummel routes soaking in breathtaking Highland views and do some Scottish shopping and dining in the picturesque town of Pitlochry.

DAY 10:  Our final day together is a sacred time for reflection, integration, and song—a chance to weave together all we have experienced and prepare to return home transformed. At a nearby Neolithic site with carved stones and a healing spring, we’ll connect with the ancient energies where land and sky meet, singing to awaken a timeless resonance. In the awe-inspiring landscape of ancient Breadalbane, carved by glacial forces, we’ll offer our voices to the deep stillness of the rock and vibrance of the sacred spring, cleansing, renewing, and offering our gratitude to the land that has held us.

Fingals Cave

SACRED SOUNDS JOURNEY

Journey Itinerary
Part 2 (3 Days) limited to just 8 people

Scotlands Isle of Iona & Staffa

Darren Deojee, our resident expert who has led many sound circles in these parts, calls this sacred place “The Edge of Creation.” This special 3-day extension to Iona & Staffa is for those called to go deeper — a rare opportunity to immerse in one of Scotland’s most ancient power sites, the “Rock of Ages” where land, sea, and sky meet in a powerful convergence. Known as the birthplace of Christianity, Iona holds profound energies for healing and spiritual awakening.

With only 8 places available, we’ll journey through the mystical landscapes of Glencoe, then sail to the Isle of Iona to sing in the ancient Iona Abbey — culminating in a private boat trip to a sacred sea cave –  ‘Fingal’s Cave’ for deep sound and sacred ceremony – a once in a lifetime experience –  in one of the most extraordinary natural cathedrals on Earth.

DAY 11:  A Smaller group of us will travel through some of Scotlands most dramatic scenery at Glencoe and Loch Linnhe, island hopping through a few ferries as we head to our final destination, the unique Isle of Iona: burial place of Kings!

There are 60 kings (that we know of!) Buried on Iona – 48 Scottish kings including a few famous names Kenneth McAlpin – the founder and first king of Scotland as we know it today, MacBeth, famous thanks to Shakespeare, and Angus Og, King of the Isles. There are also 8 Norwegian and 4 Irish kings buried there!

DAY 12 – We travel to Iona, a sacred isle known as the Rock of Ages, one of the most ancient spiritual centres in Scotland and a place of deep reverence. This tiny island holds a powerful presence, with its historic Iona Abbey, a place of pilgrimage for millennia. Exploring the impressive Abbey and grounds we will bring our songs to the beautiful church here and explore this wild and unique place, seeking out a natural cave to add our resonance to the land.

Iona is one of the birthplaces of Christianity in the west and as well as the burial place of Kings. It is also home to some of the oldest rock in Europe!  The ancients knew this place was special and you too can enjoy the mystical light and reverie possible here.

DAY 13The Sound Cathedral – Fingals Cave and Staffa

Everything we’ve been doing has been preparing us for this most sacred of opportunities. We will have our own private charter sail boat to grant us private time away from the tourist crowds to visit one of the most incredible natural cathedrals anywhere – Fingals Cave on Staffa.

We will sing our resonances undisturbed in a natural amplifier that touches the entire Atlantic Ocean – made by nature, for nature – enhanced and enriched by the resonances and aliveness-of-voice that we will have cultivated on our journey together.

Staffa translates to ‘the musical isle’ for its formations cause sound to resonate. Staffa reveals ‘the order beneath the rock’ and its incredible hexagonal structure touches everyone who witnesses it with a sense of wonder and awe. There is no doubt this was a most holy and special ancient place – feared, and revered and here, our pilgrimage culminates.

"Julia, today was incredible….. I can’t find the words to describe how it felt to be part of a group of strangers and yet so connected in spirit and relying upon each other to create the amazing sounds which transported me (and us all) to a different place, a different mind set and somewhere that love and peace and hope existed. It truly was a magical experience today and thank you so much for welcoming me so warmly and encouraging me to sing like I didn’t think possible!"

"Working with Darren was an adventure in its own right. There were moments where the word ‘serendipity’ would not do justice to the unfolding events; the only fitting word is ‘magic.' Work with Darren, and your life will never be the same again. I am ignited by purpose and excited to work each day, and my partner and I are soon to become parents to our first baby! There is NOBODY in the coaching world with a perspective and insight quite like Darren’s."
James Howe
Investor & Entrepreneur
"Maddy's sessions have transformed both my singing and my life. They’ve given me the confidence to express myself musically and in everyday life. I’ve challenged my limiting beliefs to a point where I can express myself with less limitation. She is very nurturing and holds a safe space for experimentation. I highly recommend her coaching."

SACRED SOUND WORKSHOPS AND ACTIVATIONS

Learning to ‘SEE’ Again Workshop

Humans have more than one mode of perception available to them naturally.  One, we have to be trained in, the other is natural. One looks, the other SEEs.  In the one we are taught, we ‘look at’ things, but we don’t see what’s between us and the thing.  We walk ‘from’ and ‘to’ and ‘here’ and ‘there’ without much conscious awareness of what’s in between.

In the other mode, we start to recover our natural ability to SEE wholistically – the ‘ undifferentiated world’ we were born into, and from there, ones awareness walks between things.  And one can walk between worlds…from who we have been, to ever more who, and what, we are capable of being, seeing ourselves and the world in whole new ways as we go.

Using this technique with sound enhances our awareness of ‘what’s going on’ within and around us to new depths of subtlety, lifting our sound and sensitivity to new heights.

This method will be built on progressively as we go on the journey, with many contexts and places to develop it in as we go to deepen your awareness of what can be gained in this practice: real insight into your own everyday behaviour, bringing a chance for richer self-knowing and real change where needed, as well as cultivating an increasing capacity to be powerfully present in your life.

Secrets of Sound, Spelling and Character Development

We will build on this series across the course of our journey.  Bringing our minds into greater alignment with the why of sounding and singing, we add ever greater depth to how we sound and sing. This helps us ever more courageously claim our voices and our right to take up space, while opening up the senses of the mind as to how our everyday spells work influencing how we feel, express ourselves, and behave.

We talk of composing ourselves, and of decomposing when we die, and these like so many other funny spells that are about sound are in our everyday speech point to a deep significance of sound – from calling our body parts organs, to calling something ‘sound’ if it is reliable.  We are on a journey of composing ourselves, seeking to master our conduct.

This exploration of mind and sound enables ever greater alignment and integration of mind, emotion, body, and spirit.

Connecting with Ancestors

If you ask a native where their ancestors are, they might say ’in the rocks and the trees’ – and they’ll mean it.

The western mind has ideas about what it might mean, but most people these days don’t really feel it.

This workshop is a story, a spell, a magical journey of the mind that takes us to pathways of reconnection, awareness and orientation with  the ancestors, in an opportunity for seeing past the hurts of the immediate family, we can be held in a far greater loving and supportive ancestral field – it is a birthright of all of us that we have simply not been shown how to align with.

Living with ancestral awareness and connection: to feel held and supported by such, brings an at-home-ness and deeper ease of being.  It helps us find our place in the world without clamour, and soothes the unseen frayed nerves that can arise from disconnection, though we may not have known the cause.

This session paves the way for a series of opportunities on this journey for different levels of ancestral connection, healing and integration, in places prized by those who have come before us.

This method of connection will stay with you no matter where you find yourself in future.

Elemental Ancestors

Building on the preceding session we’ll move beyond the human ancestor, into the elemental, using sound, SEEing and approach to take a magical journey into the foundational power of the elements.

Here, at the Green Chapel, the Earth reveals itself in a particular way lending an invitation, and opportunity, to connect with something so deep, silent and foundational. We will tread with the whispered grumbling vibrations of the rocks to stir and seek to meet the Living Stone to find the foundations without and within in this unique place.

"I’ve been attending Maddy’s Sing to Thrive singing circles for over a year and love them. They’re fun, uplifting, and have improved both my singing and confidence. Singing in a group is really enjoyable and has stretched me to try different parts. I’ve also had one-on-one lessons with Maddy, which have been enormously helpful. She explains things clearly and makes learning fun and not scary! After being traumatised about singing in public since third grade, I finally feel free to sing — it’s been healing on every level."

Frequently Asked Questions

No. All domestic and international flights to England and ground transport to the village of Avebury must be covered by each participant.   However we are offering a complimentary pick up from Reading Train Station as all major airports have direct or one-change connections to Reading Station, where we will meet you for collection at 10:00 AM on September 3rd.

If you are only joining us for Part 2 of our trip we will meet you for collection at a destination TBA.

Pickup and Drop-Off Logistics

Don’t worry about how to get to Avebury — we’ve got you covered!

We’ll pick you up from Reading Train Station (pronounced Redding), a major transport hub easily accessible from anywhere in London.

No matter which London airport you arrive at, it’s simple to get a train or underground connection to Reading. All major airports have direct or one-change connections to Reading Train Station, where we will meet you for collection at 10:00 AM on September 3rd.

If you’re staying in London the night before, Reading is an easy train ride from central London. (Tip: Citymapper is a fantastic free app for navigating London — it gives accurate times, costs, and covers all transport options, including bike and scooter hire!)

Once you reach Reading, we’ll whisk you away to Avebury Farmhouse, where your adventure officially begins. From that point on, all transport is taken care of, and we’ll travel together in a comfortable minibus throughout the journey.

The first leg of the journey will conclude in Scotland on September 13th, where those finishing here will be dropped off at major transport links in Glasgow, making it easy to return to London by train or plane.

For those joining us for the optional Ancient Iona extension, you’ll stay on for a deeper exploration and be returned to Glasgow on September 16th for onward travel.

If you’d like to add more traditional sightseeing to your trip, consider arriving in London a few days early or staying on after we finish to explore Glasgow or Edinburgh (only 50 minutes from Glasgow by express train).

A day or two in London before we begin, and a couple of days in Scotland afterward, could be the perfect way to bookend this profound journey — a chance to reflect, integrate, and wind down after our shared adventure.

No experience is needed—everyone is welcome! If you have a passion for music, singing, and sound and are willing to join in and explore your voice, you’re in the right place. This journey is about vibration, resonance, and connection, not perfection. As long as you’re open to adding your voice to the group harmonics, you’ll be an integral part of this powerful sound experience.

Absolutely. Travel insurance is a pre-requisite for every participant. You will not be allowed on the Sacred Sounds Journey without it.

This is to ensure that everybody gets access to the proper care that they need and deserve, no matter where in the world they are arriving from, in the unlikely case that medical care is required.

No, love — it’s many things: a journey, an adventure, a sacred pilgrimage… but not a retreat where you lounge about getting massages, sipping herbal tea, and flipping through a novel while wrapped in a dressing gown. You’ll be far too busy singing in stone circles, sounding in caves, blessing waterfalls, and gallivanting across ancient lands. Think less spa weekend, more spiritual quest with a splash of Celtic magic and a proper pair of walking shoes!
